Meet our team

We are fortunate that our lovely, caring Sunbeams team are all qualified, experienced teachers who have worked in nurseries, schools and community pre-school environments for many years.
Sunbeams-Michelle-Francis

Nursery Manager & Early Years Practitioner

Michelle Francis

I have worked in the nursery since 2015, starting as a volunteer whilst training for my NVQ 3, then continuing my education at university where I studied for a Foundation Degree. I then worked through the ranks to become a Senior Early Years Practitioner , then was delighted to become the manager for Treetops nursery.

Outside of work, I enjoy DIY, muddy runs, obstacle courses and spending quality time with my family.

Sunbeams-Tracy-Fournier

Early Years Foundation Stage Leader

Tracy Fournier

I have enjoyed a varied career in Early Years, from qualifying as a Nursery Nurse in 1990, to becoming the Early Years Foundation Stage Leader at Roundhill Primary School in 2020. During this time, I gained a degree in Early Years and a PGCE. I have loved being part of the amazing Roundhill Early Years team for 20 years. No two days are ever the same when you are playing, laughing and learning with such enthusiastic and enquiring little minds. It really is the best job ever!

In my free-time, I love reading and cooking, watching films and pub quizzes. I also love spending time exploring outdoors, having adventures in a campervan and can’t resist splashing in muddy puddles!

Sunbeams-Suzanne-Hawkins

Nursery Assistant

Suzanne Hawkins

I look after the 2 year old children in Treetops. I started my career as a secondary teacher, but after having my own children I switched careers to work in Early Years, gaining Early Years Professional Status and becoming a Level 3 Forest school leader.

I have worked in a number of private nurseries and community pre-schools before joining Treetops Nursery when it opened in 2016.

Outside of work I enjoys walking my dog, singing in a pop choir and spending time with my family, (especially if it involves a long chat over tea and cake!)

Sunbeams-Rosie-Ashworth-Lewis

Foundation Stage Teacher

Rosie Ashworth-Lewis

I’m one of the Foundation Stage teachers, I started working at Roundhill in 2001 and I’m very proud to be part of such a wonderful school.

Following a degree in Psychology, I completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) and enjoyed teaching English in Spain. Next, I did a PGCE, specialising in Early Years.

My degree in Psychology has given me a particular interest in special educational needs, and I have a post graduate diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties.

Outside of school, I love travelling and exploring new places, with my husband and two children. I also enjoy gardening and have secured funds from local businesses to develop our Sunbeams garden. It is a beautiful space to hunt for bugs, smell fresh herbs or pick a juicy raspberry!

Sunbeams Cathy-Abel

Nursery Teacher - Sunbeams Nursery for 3 and 4 Year olds

Cathy Abel

I have worked as an Early Years teacher for 19 years, 12 of which have been in Sunbeams at Roundhill Primary School. In this time, I have been the EYFS Leader and also worked closely with the Local Authority as a moderator. I love being part of our large, friendly, team where everyday is fun and rewarding for children and staff alike.

I have a degree in Music and a PGCE. Before becoming a classroom teacher, I worked as a peripatetic flute teacher for 8 years and music is my passion. You are never far away from a song in Sunbeams!

In my free-time, I love to read, listen to music and be creative: sewing, knitting, embroidering, making cards. Helping to develop our youngest children’s creativity and imagination makes my days the most worthwhile they can be!

We’d love to chat with you and your little one!

"Sunbeams is a bit of a hidden gem – there’s very few nursery provisions quite like it in Bath. I think what’s so special is that we combine a caring family ethos with such depth of expertise in nursery teaching and leadership. And I think the jewel in our crown is all the greenery and space we have - to breathe, grow, run, scoot and play"

Sue Adams, Sunbeams Head Teacher
